SCIENCE OUTREACH
In addition to our public showings, we offer a science outreach program to local schools! Included in such is a multidisciplinary approach to understanding the natural world, with visualizations through the cosmos in the Visualization Laboratory, a guided tour through time in the Linsley Geology Museum, and hands-on interactions with a variety of different plant species in the Greenhouse!
Learn more about our programs, including testimonials from local teachers!
science museum tours
LINSLEY GEOLOGY MUSEUM
Take a walk through Geologic time on a guided tour! We will look at gemstones and minerals, discuss the rock cycle, and examine fossils collected near and far!
GREENHOUSE
Students will study life cycles of several types of plants, plant a seed they can take home and care for, and join us on a scavenger hunt to learn and identify different plant species!
HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES
Sometimes science is best learned through doing!
We have several hands-on demonstrations! From exploring the eruptive power of volcanoes, to launching water rockets, to making comets out of liquid nitrogen, students will get to learn concepts in the most interactive way possible.
SKY TALKS AND SHOWS
A first look at the universe...
Join our enthusiastic presenters for a live tour of the night sky and an educational movie in the dome!
Find seasonal constellations in the night sky and hear stories about how they got up there. Watch the moon change shape in the sky and take a close-up look at other planets. Students will learn the patterns of daily, monthly, and seasonal changes in their environment.
