Experience Colgate's Bicentennial in the Ho Tung Visualization Lab with an immersive fulldome production of Colgate's history. Robert Garland, Roy D. And Margaret B. Wooster Professor of the Classics, and Joseph Eakin, Technical Director and Designer of the Ho Tung Visualization Lab and Planetarium, using the resources of the Colgate Special Collections and University Archives, have assembled an exciting visual representation of Colgate’s history.

Socrates on Death Row
Premiered October 27, 2016​

 

Travel back in time to 399 BCE and meet one of the greatest philosophers of all time, Socrates.  This original production written by Professor Robert Garland and produced by Colgate students and staff takes a look at the end of Socrates' life and the dark days of Democracy.

Flight into the Cell

 

Flight into the Cell travels from outside the body into a lung epithelial cell to show the inner workings of this fantastice factory.  Working Hamilton Central School Biology teacher, Mark Arquiett and Colgate Biology professor, Ken Belanger, and Colgate students produced this fantastic voyage.  

 

Animators include Colgate students: Avi Das '12 and Ian Dywer '14 and Rochester Institute of Technology students: Cameron McKenzie '15  and Alex Burnett '15, and Daniel Galvez .  

 

Narrated by Alessandro Trinca and edited by Joe Eakin and Alex Burnett.

Making of a Star and Her Entourage

 

The Making of a Star and Her Entourage is an original production produced by students and staff and funded by a Chandra X-ray Telescope grant by Colgate professor Jeff Bary.

 

The Making of a Star and Her Entourage traces the evolution of humankind’s understanding of the universe. Discover the long journey beginning with the Earth-centered model of the universe in which the Sun was considered a planet to our current understanding that the Sun is a star centered in the Solar System and is one of billions that reside in the Milky Way.

 

Visuals were completely produced by students from Colgate, RIT, & Sherburne-Earlville High School: Colgate students - Abi Conklin '13, Alex Crawford '12, Karen Alley '12, Caitlin Grossjung '13, Matt Johnson '15, Ian Dwyer '14, Sarah Byer '15, Brett Rojec '14; RIT student - Alex Burnett '15; Sherburne-Earlville High School - Daniel Galvez.
