GREENHOUSE
Colgate University's greenhouse contains approximately 1,000 plants used to demonstrate diversity, facilitate teaching, and provide color and visual interest throughout the year. Our diverse collection includes ferns, orchids, cactus, succulents, flowering vines, and more. This state-of-the-art facility in the Ho Interdisciplinary Science Center is approximately 3,000 square feet. The greenhouse contains six separate plant zones: the Tropical House, two Temperate Houses, and three Research Houses actively used by the Biology Department's faculty and students. An outreach program brings area school and other groups to visit, learn, and enjoy the greenhouse.
Colgate biology students work closely with faculty on graduate-level greenhouse research projects throughout the year.
Reyna Stagnaro, greenhouse supervisor, maintains our conservatory and research plants and oversees all greenhouse operations.
Greenhouse tours are available to school groups, clubs, and individuals interested in learning about our plant collection and research.
